Seeking the Lost Sheep

14″ x 18″ oil
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken…”
Ezekiel 34:16

This photo of our friend Ava inspired me to do a desert scene…

I painted the sky the way I wanted it and then the sand, but the rivulets in the sand dunes wouldn’t come out the way I wanted to, so I covered them up and waited until the next day to do the woman in the black Bedouin robe. This was exciting and such a contrast to the sky and sand. But the next morning I woke up thinking that what I really want to do with my painting is to glorify God, hence the shepherd and help from the Master of creation…I have no doubt in my mind that He helped me with this painting.

I found a photo of another desert scene to inspire me further…
